Many People Notice This After 30 — But Rarely Talk About It
Names don't come as quickly.
Distraction feels more common.
Multitasking seems harder than it used to be.
Most people assume this is simply part of getting older.
But neuroscience tells a more interesting story.
Your Brain Is Still Adaptable — Even Later in Life
While mental performance typically peaks in early adulthood, the brain remains capable of change.
This ability is known as neuroplasticity — the brain's capacity to reorganize itself when it is challenged in the right way.
Modern brain training is built around this principle.
Why Simple Puzzles Often Fall Short
Sudoku, crosswords, and similar games can be enjoyable.
But research shows they usually train only one narrow skill — and once you master them, they challenge the brain less and less.
Effective brain training works differently.
It activates multiple cognitive areas at the same time, including:
- Memory
- Attention
- Processing speed
- Cognitive flexibility
This multi-area approach increases the likelihood that improvements extend beyond the exercises and into everyday life.
Developed With Universities — Not Guesswork
The scientific foundation of NeuroNation was established with the Free University of Berlin and continues through collaborations with leading research and medical institutions.
Development and research are led from Berlin, with partners across Germany, Canada, and beyond.
NeuroNation is currently involved in some of the largest scientific studies worldwide on cognitive performance and healthy aging.
What Research Observed in Everyday Training
In a long-term randomized study conducted with the MSH Medical School Hamburg and the University of Würzburg, participants trained with NeuroNation from home — without instruction or supervision.
After 21 training sessions, the training group showed improved performance on working-memory tasks, compared with an active control group that practiced verbal knowledge.
Participants in the training group also reported fewer everyday cognitive lapses, such as forgetting names or appointments, becoming easily distracted, or having difficulty making decisions.
Because participants were randomly assigned and both groups showed comparable performance before training, the researchers concluded that the observed differences could be attributed to the training intervention.
NeuroNation supports cognitive fitness. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure medical conditions.
Why Personalization Matters
Training that is too easy has little effect.
Training that is too difficult leads to frustration.
That's why NeuroNation uses adaptive exercises that:
- Start simple
- Adjust automatically based on performance
- Aim to keep training near your personal performance level
This balance is considered essential for effective mental training.
Consistency Beats Intensity
Just like physical fitness, mental training works best when done regularly.
Repeating the same task eventually stops challenging the brain. NeuroNation avoids this by offering a wide variety of exercises, keeping training engaging and mentally demanding over time.
Training can even be done together with friends or family, helping many users stay consistent.
Recognized for Advancing Cognitive Fitness
NeuroNation received the Leonardo Prize from the German Federal Ministry of Health and AOK for its contribution to cognitive abilities and mental well-being.
Today, its training is used in scientific research, rehabilitation contexts, and everyday life by people of almost all ages.

Modern brain training isn't about quick tricks or games.
It's about structured, adaptive exercises based on current research — designed to support memory, focus, and mental clarity in daily life.
